This is one of a series of outcomes produced for a level design project in university. This was my first time building a cathedral and I feel that it was fairly successful, although there is much I would have liked to improve on.
Yeah, I didn't get around to optimizing it. There's so many edges that can be removed but as it was for a uni project and the polycount wasn't a major issue I'll probably leave it, and keep that in mind for my other projects. Thanks for the input
The textures are my own photographs and have been edited in photoshop. I guess it isn't very clear in these renders. I have used normal maps but I didn't produce an AO map as this piece was going in UDK for the final result. I forgot to add the specular map
I haven't had much practice with lighting so I agree with you there. I didn't get around to optimizing the models as it was for a deadline but I guess at some point I could go back and adjust it.
Cheers for the comments, the critique is useful. There are many aspects that I need to improve on.
no spec, AO or normal maps
and the scene is poorly lit, if lit at all
some wasted geometry here and here but you do have some skills there
